Caroline Wozniacki has been granted the honour of being the Danish flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Olympics Games in Brazil.
The former Eastbourne champion will lead the Danish Olympic team inside the Estádio do Maracana in Rio on 5 August.
Former world #1 was presented as the Danish Standard bearer today at Copenhagen city hall, where H.R.H Crown Prince Frederik handed her the flag.
The 25-year-old admitted: “It’s an honor for me because the Olympics really means a lot to me, and I have amazing memories from my previous two Olympics – in Beijing and London.
“I’m enjoying being a part of the Danish team, and feeling the team spirit that I normally do not experience every day.
“To carry the flag in Rio will be one of the highpoints of my career, and it will be something that I will never forget.”
