Agnieszka Radwanska has become the latest Devonshire Park regular to confirm a return to the Aegon International.
The Polish ace, an ex-Eastbourne champion and former Wimbledon runner-up, has been a favourite at the seaside town since her 2007 debut.
And Radwanska came close to adding a second Eastbourne crown last year, only to overwhelmed in the third and final set of the 2015 Aegon International by Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic.
She explained about her love for competing in the popular pre-Wimbledon tournament:
“I’m delighted to be returning to Eastbourne as the grass court season is special for me.”
“I’ve fond memories of lifting the trophy at Devonshire Park in 2008 and I’m just as excited about coming back again this year.”
Radwanska was crowned a surprise yet popular champion at Devonshire Park, but apart from last season has struggled to emulate her initial success at Eastbourne despite the fervent support of the Centre Court crowd.
The former world #2 joins the British pair of Eastbourne-based Johanna Konta and Guernsey’s Heather Watson, reigning champion Bencic and double Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic as the early confirmed entrants.
