Petra Kvitova, the two-time Wimbledon winner who has little joy at Devonshire Park over the years, joins defending champion Belinda Bencic as confirmed entrants for the 2016 Aegon International.
Czech Republic ace Kvitova has not tasted much success at Eastbourne since she stormed into the 2011 final.
And she followed up her indifferent performance on Centre Court by surprisingly going on to win Wimbledon two weeks later.
She has withdrawn in the past from the Wimbledon warm-up tournament citing injury and illness, so this season is ready to finally make an impact at the prestigious event that attracts the majority of the world’s top 20 from the WTA Tour.
Last year Swiss teenager Bencic caused a sensational by lifting the trophy at Eastbourne, which included impressive victories over former Devonshire Park champions Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki.
As exclusively revealed by EastbourneTennis.com, Bencic will return to defend her crown.
Kvotiva said: “Eastbourne is one of the stand-out events of the WTA calendar and the best preparation for Wimbledon.
“The atmosphere and the fans all go towards making Eastbourne a great tournament, and I have some fun memories on their courts.”
