Konta vs Cirstea

Johanna Konta eased past Romanian Sorana Cirstea to register a 6–2 6–2 2nd Round success and set up a mouth-watering tie against newly crowned French Open champion Jeļena Ostapenko.

Eastbourne-based Brit Konta, the no.5 seed, confidently dispatched the world no.62 in 72 minutes much to the delight of the enthusiastic Centre Court crowd.

Konta will be given a tough test by Latvian teenager Ostapenko, the no.10 seed, and aims to progress further before returning to Wimbledon as Britain’s best hope of a Women’s Singles champion at SW19 since Virginia Wade won at the All England Club in 1977.
