2017 champion Karolina Pliskova dropped just two games in a grass court masterclass against Ekaterina Alexandrova, claiming the last semifinal spot at the Nature Valley International.
Clinical all week without dropping a set, No.2 seed Pliskova – who also made the final here in 2016 – needed just 54 minutes to dismiss World No.52 Alexandrova in a clinical performance, 6-2, 6-0.
“I think it’s tough because I can serve well,” Pliskova explained. “It’s about couple points. If you don’t do well, then I can just really, not kill you every time, but I can just hold my serve sometimes easier… I can also serve breakpoints down.
“So it’s tough. And then I think more mentally it’s tough that they just, I don’t know, try to play too much, I feel like. And I don’t mind this game: then there is too much mistakes from them.”
