Caroline Wozniacki, who has skipped the past 10 weeks on the WTA Tour, will start her grass court season here at the Aegon Open in Nottingham.
And the former world #1, currently languishing at no.34, faces Turk Cagla Buyukakcay for a Centre Court showdown at 1pm.
The great Dane – an ex-Eastbourne International winner – missed the entire clay court season, including Roland Garros, because of a right thigh injury but is a more relaxed figure that previous seasons.
Devonshire Park-bound Wozniacki explained: ”I haven’t been watching any tennis at all as I’ve been so busy doing everything else – it’s been so nice to have a bit of a break.
“I know the results of the French Open, but I’ve just been doing my thing – little bit of normal life and now I’m happy to be back on Tour.
“I’ve so many other interests outside of tennis, so to actually have a chance to do some of that and to be out of a regular routine has been nice.”
“I’m excited to be in Nottingham as it’s my first time here, so it’s a fun and new experience. I’ve never played Buyukakcay before. I’ve seen her around at some tournaments, but I have never really paid that much attention.
“All I do here is to out there and do my best – obviously I would love to win the tournament.”
