2010 tickets

ball of moneyWith the combined tournaments of men and women at Devonshire Park for only the second time ever, there has been an increase in prices as well as many fans upset about obtaining tickets.

This is in stark contrast to the tournament record takings of over £100,00 for the opening day of 2009 ticket sales.

In previous years tickets have been available on the day, when many fans have waited to hear the final line-up - or indeed check on the weather. Although a limited number of tickets may be available on the day, it is advisable to purchase passes in advance due to the incredible interest shown for Eastbourne 2010.

Tickets for the 2010 AEGON Tournament are divided into three categories, and generally get more expensive the closer you are to the action. The cheapest tickets (£15 ground pass) and the most expensive (£40) fall on the day of the men's and ladies singles finals.

The top four seeds should make their first appearance at Eastbourne 2010 for the second round on Wednesday. The tournament hots up with the quarter-finals scheduled for Thursday, the semi-finals due to be played on Friday with the champion crowned after the final has been determined on Saturday.

Ticket types

Tickets are divided into daily and weekly, which allow access to either the Centre Court and other courts or just the No1 Court and outside courts.

Daily passes include evening sessions as well as the day. Weekly tickets are highly sought after and include Centre Court seating from Monday to Saturday.

Ground passes allow ticket holders to watch matches on the outside courts throughout the tournament, and easily offer the best value as they include access to the No1 Court.

imageWEEKLY TICKET | Premium ticket that is a must-have for any true tennis fan. But a lack of leisure time and money does not permit thousands to take up the opportunity to see Eastbourne's very own mini-Wimbledon. These popular tickets are available for the Centre Court, and offer extra value for money over buying tickets on a daily basis.

imageGROUND PASS | These allow ticket holders to watch matches on the outside courts throughout the AEGON International, and easily offer the best value as they include access to the No1 Court.

imageCENTRE COURT TICKET | More expensive as the top stars and British players tend to be favoured to be under the spotlight of the appreciative crowd. Ticket holders also have the option to watch other matches on the No1 Court.

Ground tickets are ideal for those who prefer the more intimate experience and excitement away from the Centre Court. And ground tickets include entrance to the compact No1 Court, which is carpeted with the grass that was originally on Wimbledon's Centre Court at the prestigious All England Club.

Weekly prices, which cover both the men's and women's tournaments, range from £165 to £195.

Centre Court guide

centre court at eastbourneDevonshire Park is a world-class arena, and plays host to Davis Cup matches, County Cup finals as well as the traditional grass court tournament held the week before the Wimbledon Championships.

But with four very different stands, it is worth choosing with care where to find the most suitable seating at Eastbourne. And do remember that the town is known as "the sunshine coast" for a reason, so bring your sun lotion.

north standNORTH STAND | This is the most popular place to sit, as it is set behind the baseline. This is the best seating on Centre Court if you want to join the traditionally vocal crowd and soak in the sunshine. It is fairly well known that Eastbourne is famously known as 'the sunshine coast'.

east standEAST STAND | This has, over the years, proved to be most popular with the regular fans who turn up each year to watch world-class tennis at Devonshire Park. Positioned on the side of the Centre Court, these seats attract local sunshine all day (so it is advisable to bring your sun lotion).

south standSOUTH STAND | Offers exactly the same view as the TV cameras, which is useful if you are going to watch most of the tournament from the comfort of your own home. Tickets are usually available on the day for the South Stand, except for the semi-finals and finals, and is where the players' entourage and coaches sit to write their notes.

west standWEST STAND | This tends to play host to what can only be described as a conservative set of tennis fans. Expect a more reserved ambience, but hardly any quips from the West Stand. However, once the sun starts dropping in mid-afternoon fans tend to be left shivering in the shade, so bring a jumper or two.
