Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

The Russian's never-say-die attitude helped her claim the first title of 2010 at Monterrey in Mexico, by finishing off Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 6-0 in the deciding set.

And Pavlyuchenkova is one Russian whose game is actually suited to grass.
She fell to Aussie Sam Stosur in the qualifying rounds at Birmingham 2008 but then chalked up five successive victories at 2008 Wimbledon.

The Russian raced through three rounds of qualifying at SW19 and pulled off some impressive wins in the opening two rounds of Wimbledon. But newly-crowned Eastbourne champion Agneiszka Radwanska proved a step too far in the third round.

Pavlyuchenkova impressed on clay in 2009, but on grass reached the last 16 at the 2009 Birmingham event before being halted in the second round at 2009 Wimbledon.

Her debut at Eastbourne is highly anticipated by fans and former players alike, with the young ace tipped as a future top 10 player and potential grand slam champion.

Reached third round at 2010 French Open.

Chances of winning | A handful on grass, who given a decent draw could be the surprise package of 2010 on her debut. Unlikely to win the event, but certainly could cause a few upsets.
