Zheng back to best

jie zhengJie Zheng began her Eastbourne campaign eager to put the previous week's grass court disappointment behind her by thumping Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-2 6-2.

The Chinese ace was in no mood to be messed about again after faltering as top seed to little-known Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets at the 2009 AEGON Classic.

But blustery Birmingham was replaced by the well manicured courts at Eastbourne, and Zheng triumphed in style. Although her game is not particularly suited to grass, she shot to fame at 2008 Wimbledon by delivering the knockout blow to the then world no1 and recently crowned French Opne champion Ana Ivanovic.
