Pablo Cuevas
June 2010 | by Monticelli
The
Uruguayian Davis Cup doubles specialist has yet to claim a singles
title on the ATP Tour, and has only played five matches on grass.
At 2009 Wimbledon, Cuevas reached the second round after battling through qualifying to register his first victories on grass courts.
Briefly dipped into the world's top 20 at doubles after winning the 2008 French Open with Peru's Luis Horna, but at singles has only been ranked as high as world no45 in 2009 after making the semi-finals at the German Open.
Yet
to reached the third round at a grand slam event but has a win-loss
record of 15-5 at Davis Cup singles so is no fool on any surface, and
could be involved in a thriller at Devonshire Park as his never-say-die
attitude grinds down his opponents.
Reached first round of 2010 French Open.
Realistic chances of winning // Confident on grass, as shown at 2009 Wimbledon, so should get through a couple of rounds if his opponent isn't a grass court expert.
