John Isner

The lanky American has a surprisingly poor record on grass, with only one win on the surface and five defeats.

His 2008 grass court season saw first round defeats at the Nottingham Open and Wimbledon, although he picked up his maiden success on the green stuff at Queen's Club in London.

Missed 2009 Wimbledon with illness, so keen to show the British public exactly why he climbed into the world's top 20.

Voted 2009 ATP Most Improved Player, and shortly afterwards moved into the world's top 30 after capturing the 2010 Heineken Open in Auckland, New Zealand for his first ATP Tour title and donated US$5,000 of the winnings to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake charity appeal.

Reached third round of 2010 French Open.

Realistic chances of winning // Solid serve and the confidence of being the top seed should lift him, although a semi-final place is the best that the tall American can really expect to achieve.
