Karolina Pliskova won back-to-back matches in a matter of hours to book her place in tomorrow’s Aegon Open final.
The top seed stuttered past Australian Ashleigh Barty with two tiebreak triumphs to reach the last four, then dismissed Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig in straight sets.
The Devonshire Park-bound Czech Republic star was on the ropes against Barty, starving off two set points in the opening set and bouncing back for a a 4-2 deficit in the second set to win 7-6(2) 7-6(7).
Puig edged past former Eastbourne champion Tamira Paszek of Austria 6-4 6-3 to claim her first semi-final berth since Sydney in January.
But the #4 seed was trounced by in-form Kliskova who is favourite to win the title here on the Nottingham grass.
