2015 Aegon International

Pironkova picks perfection

A bit of a stretch: Pironkova defeated #16 seed Stosur

Tsvetana Pironkova continued the day of shocks by dismissing #16 seed Sam Stosur 7-5 7-6(0).

The lofty Bulgarian, who has upset numerous top 10 players, polished off Stosur in the second set tie-break in style to progress at the 2015 Aegon International.

Two breaks of serves a-piece left the contest nicely poised at 5-5 before Pironkova took control of the net and coolly collect the next two games to secure the set for the loss of three points – that included one set point being saved.

Again a combination of wayward service games and solid returns by the pair of big-hitters were on display, so the resultant tie-break came as no surprise.

But Pironkova was ruthless in the tie-break and registered a perfect 7-0 to send Stosur off to the Championships without a win at Devonshire Park.
