Kristina Mladenovic, who suffered a shock final defeat in Holland on Sunday, tasted another loss on grass before she heads to Eastbourne’s Aegon International.
The French #4 seed tasted a 6-4 6-4 reversal to 2013 Wimbledon runner-up Sabine Lisicki at the inaugural Mallorca Open.
Mladenovic had scooped the French Open Doubles crown with compatriot Caroline Garcia on the Sunday, just a week before being beaten in straight sets by CoCo Vandeweghe.
In an entertaining contest she saved one break point in the sixth game, but then could not halt the German so slipped behind 4-2.
Lisicki, whose fancy footwork on grass gave her the edge, maintained the momentum to kill off the opening set.

A tweener from Mladenovic
And she was just as commanding at the start of the next set to ensure that the French ace started to falter, through a combination of struggling with her own serve and Lisicki’s strong return
After thumping down an eighth double and losing the next point Mladenovic trailed 4-3 to hand Lisicki the innovative.
Yet battling Mladenovic saved two match points on her serve, then another pair on Lisicki’s service game before conceding defeat to the gutsy German.
Mladenovic will take a well earned rest before returning to grass court action at Devonshire Park prior to competing at Wimbledon.
