Feliciano Lopez easily disposed of France’s Jeremy Chardy in just over an hour with a comfortable 6-3 6-4 success on Court #1.
The 32-year-old defending champion, whose Centre Court contest against Chardy was postponed from the previous day because of rain, had no problems on his first match on Court #1 this year.
The Spanish left-hander may have picked up some tips after watching Caroline Wozniacki win her marathon match against battling Camila Giorgi, because he didn’t face a single break point.
Lopez, who claimed his first career grass court title at the 2013 Aegon International, has been in sensational form on the surface this season. The veteran fluffed a match point to finish runner-up to Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov at Queen’s Club in London, and has been in formidable form at Eastbourne.
Lopez returns to Centre Court to tackle America’s 6’6” ace Sam Querrey, a former champion at Queen’s Club, with the winner set to face either top seed Richard Gasquet of France or Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin in the final.
